                        A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 
                               AN ACT 
 
 
  1- 1  To amend Chapter 36 of Title 36 of the Official Code of 
  1- 2  Georgia Annotated, relating to annexation of territory, so 
  1- 3  as to prohibit any annexation across county boundaries; to 
  1- 4  provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and 
  1- 5  for other purposes. 
 
  1- 6       BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 
 
  1- 7                           SECTION 1. 
 
  1- 8  Chapter 36 of Title 36 of the Official Code of Georgia 
  1- 9  Annotated, relating to annexation of territory, is amended 
  1-10  by adding a new Code section immediately following Code 
  1-11  Section 36-36-11, to be designated Code Section 36-36-12, to 
  1-12  read as follows: 
 
  1-13    "36-36-12. 
 
  1-14    There shall be no annexation across the boundary lines of 
  1-15    any county under any annexation method contained in this 
  1-16    chapter or by a local Act of the General Assembly." 
 
  1-17                           SECTION 2. 
 
  1-18  Said chapter is further amended by striking Code Section 
  1-19  36-36-33, relating to annexation prohibitions applicable 
  1-20  only to the 60 percent method, and inserting in its place a 
  1-21  new Code Section 36-36-33 to read as follows: 
 
  1-22    "36-36-33. 
 
  1-23    There shall be no annexation across the boundary lines of 
  1-24    any county under this article Reserved." 
 
  1-25                           SECTION 3. 
 
  1-26  This Act shall become effective upon its approval by the 
  1-27  Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval. 
 
  1-28                           SECTION 4. 
 
  1-29  All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are 
  1-30  repealed.
