A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1- 1 To amend Code Section 50-12-80 of the Official Code of
1- 2 Georgia Annotated, relating to the creation of the Georgia
1- 3 Commission on Women, so as to change provisions relating to
1- 4 the terms of membership; to provide for the removal of
1- 5 members for four consecutive unexcused absences; to require
1- 6 full-time Georgia residency; to provide for related matters;
1- 7 to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
1- 8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
1- 9 SECTION 1.
1-10 Code Section 50-12-80 of the Official Code of Georgia
1-11 Annotated, relating to the creation of the Georgia
1-12 Commission on Women, is amended by striking subsection (b)
1-13 and inserting in lieu thereof a new subsection (b) to read
1-14 as follows:
1-15 "(b) The members of the commission shall be women and men
1-16 of recognized ability and achievement. All vacancies
1-17 shall be filled for the unexpired term by the original
1-18 appointing official. Members shall serve for terms of
1-19 four years and no member may serve for more than two
1-20 consecutive terms and shall be eligible for successive
1-21 appointments by an appointing official. Any member with
1-22 four consecutive unexcused absences from regular monthly
1-23 meetings may be removed from the commission by the
1-24 appointing official. Each person appointed to the
1-25 commission shall be a full-time resident of Georgia. Any
1-26 member who ceases to be a full-time resident of this state
1-27 during the term of his or her membership shall be removed
1-28 from the commission and such vacancy shall be filled by
1-29 the Governor."
1-30 SECTION 2.
1-31 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
1-32 repealed.
