      SENATE RESOLUTION 22

                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Designating a bridge on State Route 90 in Macon County as 
  1- 2  the "William S. Robinson Bridge"; and for other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, William S. "Mr. Bill" Robinson was a longtime 
  1- 4  resident of Ideal, Georgia, who retired in 1971 after a 35 
  1- 5  year career with the Georgia Highway Department; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson began his career with the highway 
  1- 7  department as a rodman in 1936 and through meritorious 
  1- 8  service worked his way up through the ranks to become 
  1- 9  resident highway engineer of the Thomaston district, which 
  1-10  position he held at the time of his retirement; and 
 
  1-11  WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson, through his devotion to duty as a 
  1-12  public servant, outstanding leadership, concern for fellow 
  1-13  workers, and distinguished record of accomplishment, greatly 
  1-14  served the commonwealth; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson was a "bridge builder" not only by 
  1-16  vocation but also by avocation, serving and sharing the 
  1-17  fruits of his labors with others in need in countless acts 
  1-18  of Christian charity; and 
 
  1-19  WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson departed this life in 1988, leaving a 
  1-20  legacy of not only physical monuments to his good work but 
  1-21  also spiritual monuments of good works which live on as 
  1-22  shining examples to his family and fellow citizens; and 
 
  1-23  WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that he be honored by 
  1-24  this state and in the community in which he lived. 
 
  1-25  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 
  1-26  GEORGIA that the bridge on State Route 90 between Ideal and 
  1-27  Oglethorpe in Macon County which is the subject of proposed 
  1-28  bridge project BRF-153-1 (24) is designated as "William S. 
  1-29  Robinson Bridge," and the Department of Transportation is 
  1-30  authorized and directed to erect and maintain appropriate 
  1-31  signs so designating the bridge upon completion of the 
  1-32  proposed bridge project. 
 
  1-33  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is 
  1-34  authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of
