                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and commending Andy Baumgartner on receiving the 
  1- 2  1998 Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award; and 
  1- 3  for other purposes. 
 
  1- 4  WHEREAS, Andy Baumgartner, a kindergarten teacher at A. 
  1- 5  Brian Merry Elementary School in Augusta, Georgia, was 
  1- 6  recognized for his exceptional educational talent by the 
  1- 7  Milken Family Foundation and received the 1998 National 
  1- 8  Educator Award; and 
 
  1- 9  WHEREAS, this prestigious honor is awarded to outstanding 
  1-10  educators and administrators who have demonstrated 
  1-11  extraordinary commitment to their professional career and 
  1-12  have developed innovative teaching and learning methods or 
  1-13  strengthened educational policies and curricula; and 
 
  1-14  WHEREAS, Andy  Baumgartner is one of four outstanding 
  1-15  educators from Georgia selected to receive this national 
  1-16  honor which includes an unrestricted financial award of 
  1-17  $25,000.00; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that the dedication, 
  1-19  ability, and achievements of this very special classroom 
  1-20  teacher be acknowledged and honored and that his leadership 
  1-21  among his professional colleagues be praised. 
 
  1-22  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the 
  1-23  members of this body recognize and commend Andy Baumgartner 
  1-24  on his selection as a recipient of the 1998 Milken Family 
  1-25  Foundation National Educator Award and convey to him their 
  1-26  appreciation of his dedication and best wishes in his 
  1-27  career. 
 
  1-28  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is 
  1-29  authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of
