                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Commending the Sandy Creek High School Chorus; and for other 
  1- 2  purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Sandy Creek High School, a 1996 School of 
  1- 4  Excellence, is home to a choral department that has 
  1- 5  established its own tradition of excellence and outstanding 
  1- 6  achievement; and 
 
  1- 7  WHEREAS, under the dynamic leadership of Choral Director, 
  1- 8  Mrs. Millie Turek, the Sandy Creek High School Chorus offers 
  1- 9  a valuable opportunity for musical growth and development to 
  1-10  its talented members through a variety of performance 
  1-11  outlets; and 
 
  1-12  WHEREAS, the choral department has four performing groups: 
  1-13  the Treble Chorus, the Men's Chorus, the Select Mixed 
  1-14  Chorus, and the Select Women's Chorus; and 
 
  1-15  WHEREAS, students participate in GMEA events including 
  1-16  District Honor Chorus, Solo and Ensemble Festival, and Large 
  1-17  Group Festival; and 
 
  1-18  WHEREAS, two students of the Sandy Creek choral department 
  1-19  have the distinction of being six-year members of the 
  1-20  prestigious All-State Chorus; and 
 
  1-21  WHEREAS, three members of the chorus were selected to 
  1-22  perform at the Southern Division of ACDA during the 
  1-23  1994-1995 school year; and 
 
  1-24  WHEREAS, chorus members, Amy Karski and Valerie 
  1-25  Whittenburger were selected for the Governor's Honors 
  1-26  Program for Vocal Music in 1997; and 
 
  1-27  WHEREAS, the Select Women's Chorus was selected by audition 
  1-28  to sing at the GMEA Convention in Savannah, Georgia, on 
  1-29  January 29, 1999; and 
 
  1-30  WHEREAS, students Julie Rawlin, Valerie Whittenburger, and 
  1-31  Shannon Wilson were selected by audition to sing in the 
  1-32  National ACDA Women's Chorus in Chicago, Illinois, on 
  1-33  February 27, 1999; and

  2- 1  WHEREAS, members of the Sandy Creek Chorus will perform in 
  2- 2  Washington, D.C., in April, 1999, under the direction of 
  2- 3  Mrs. Turek. 
 
  2- 4  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the 
  2- 5  members of this body commend the members of the Sandy Creek 
  2- 6  High School Chorus on their outstanding accomplishments in 
  2- 7  music and extend best wishes for continued success in all 
  2- 8  that they do. 
 
  2- 9  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is 
  2-10  authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of 
  2-11  this resolution to Principal, Dr. Charles Warr, and Choral
