A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending the 4-H Clubs of Georgia and recognizing the
1- 2 observance of 4-H Day at the state capitol; and for other
1- 3 purposes.
1- 4 WHEREAS, 4-H provides a unique educational opportunity for
1- 5 students from nine to 19 years of age to learn valuable
1- 6 lessons outside the classroom and offers some 55 areas in
1- 7 which students can compete with one another for college
1- 8 scholarships; and
1- 9 WHEREAS, Georgia's 4-H programs are coordinated by the
1-10 Cooperative Extension Service of the University of Georgia
1-11 College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and this
1-12 service is the major university outreach program focusing on
1-13 the youth of this state; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Dr. Roger C. (Bo) Ryles of the Cooperative
1-15 Extension Service has worked diligently with the 4-H Clubs
1-16 throughout Georgia during his tenure as State 4-H Club
1-17 leader;
1-18 WHEREAS, the 1998 Georgia delegates to the National 4-H
1-19 Conference, the 1998-1999 District 4-H Presidents, the
1-20 1998-1999 State 4-H President, and the National 4-H
1-21 Scholarship Winner distinguished themselves through their
1-22 personal accomplishments and deserve special attention and
1-23 praise; and
1-24 WHEREAS, these young men and women are outstanding
1-25 representatives of the dynamic resource this state has in
1-26 its young people.
1-27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the
1-28 members of this body recognize and commend the 1998 Georgia
1-29 delegates to the National 4-H Conference, the 1998-1999
1-30 District 4-H Presidents, the 1998-1999 State 4-H President,
1-31 and the National 4-H Scholarship Winner and express to them
1-32 their best wishes in their future endeavors.
1-33 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this body shall observe Tuesday,
1-34 February 2, 1999, as 4-H Day at the state capitol.

2- 1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is
2- 2 authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of
2- 3 this resolution to Dr. Roger C. (Bo) Ryles.
