A RESOLUTION
1- 1 Commending the West Georgia Christian Academy boys'
1- 2 basketball team; and for other purposes.
1- 3 WHEREAS, the West Georgia Christian Academy boys' basketball
1- 4 team became the school's first state champion by defeating
1- 5 the Ballard team by a score of 61-35 in the ICSGA state
1- 6 tournament final on February 26, 2000; and
1- 7 WHEREAS, this "Lions" team finished its championship season
1- 8 with a record of 23 wins and only 11 losses, thereby setting
1- 9 a school record for wins; and
1-10 WHEREAS, though outsized by other teams in the championship
1-11 tournament, the Lions kept their poise and dominated their
1-12 opponents by concentrating on the fundamentals of the game;
1-13 and
1-14 WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that this outstanding
1-15 team of young men, led by head coach Anthony Lamb, be
1-16 recognized by this body.
1-17 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the
1-18 members of this body congratulate the West Georgia Christian
1-19 Academy boys' basketball team on winning its school's first
1-20 state championship and commend the team's players and
1-21 coaches for their hard work, dedication, and exemplary
1-22 achievement.
1-23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is
1-24 authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of
1-25 this resolution to the West Georgia Christian Academy boys'
1-26 basketball team.
