                             A RESOLUTION 
 
  1- 1  Recognizing and commending Frank H. Herrington; and for 
  1- 2  other purposes. 
 
  1- 3  WHEREAS, Frank H. Herrington is a well-known civic and 
  1- 4  community leader in Swainsboro, Georgia, and in Emanuel 
  1- 5  County where he is a highly respected, prominent farmer; and 
 
  1- 6  WHEREAS, he has long demonstrated his benevolent spirit 
  1- 7  through gifts to his community and to various nonprofit 
  1- 8  organizations that seek to improve the quality of life for 
  1- 9  youth and for adults; and 
 
  1-10  WHEREAS, Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes, Inc., has been a 
  1-11  major beneficiary of his generosity and that of his family 
  1-12  members, especially his sisters, Nina Herrington and Ruby 
  1-13  Herrington Drew, who joined him in giving a 750 acre family 
  1-14  farm and a significant sum to establish Herrington 
  1-15  Homestead; and 
 
  1-16  WHEREAS, recently he made yet another very substantial gift 
  1-17  to the Georgia Sheriffs Association for the operation of the 
  1-18  youth homes and its many special educational programs and 
  1-19  opportunities for young men; and 
 
  1-20  WHEREAS, Frank Herrington's philanthrophy has truly enriched 
  1-21  the lives of countless young men; and his numerous financial 
  1-22  gifts have strengthened significantly a very meaningful 
  1-23  social program and serve as a reminder to others of the 
  1-24  value and rewards of altruism. 
 
  1-25  NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the 
  1-26  members of this body recognize and commend Frank H. 
  1-27  Herrington for his very generous commitment to Georgia 
  1-28  Sheriffs Youth Homes, Inc., and convey to him their deepest 
  1-29  appreciation of his very liberal contributions and his 
  1-30  abundant support for these programs for youth. 
 
  1-31  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is 
  1-32  authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of
