SENATOR ROBERT BROWN
Robert Brown of Macon was first elected to the state Senate from middle Georgia's 26th
District in a special election held in August, 1991 to fill an unexpired term.
Brown serves as vice-chairman of the Committee on Economic Development, Tourism and
Cultural Affairs, and the Reapportionment Committee. In addition, he is a member of the
powerful Appropriations Committee, the Ethics Committee, the Insurance and Labor
Committee, the Interstate Cooperation Committee, and serves as secretary of the Judiciary
Committee.
In addition to his standing committee assignments, Brown has served on the Senate-House
Regional Hospital Study Committee and the Aged and Disabled Transportation Task Force.
He has also been a member of the Senate Study Committee on Children at Risk, the Senate
Task Force on Violence in the Media, and the Senate Government Procurement of Recycled
Products Study Committee. Senator Brown currently serves on the Senate Music Industry
Committee, the Joint Study Committee on Urban Road Building Guidelines, and the Georgia
Rail Passenger Authority Overview Committee.
