A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Code Section 15_11_30.1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to appointment of guardians by the juvenile courts and transfers of custody and support questions to the juvenile courts, so as to vest jurisdiction in the juvenile courts to appoint temporary guardians for children; to provide for certain requirements for such an appointment; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Code Section 15_11_30.1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to appointment of guardians by the juvenile courts and transfers of custody and support questions to the juvenile courts, is amended by striking subsection (a) in its entirety and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"(a) The court is vested with jurisdiction to appoint a guardian of the person or property of any child or a temporary guardian of the person or property of a child and with jurisdiction over proceedings involving any child whose custody is the subject of controversy. Any such appointment shall be made pursuant to the same requirements of notice and hearing as are provided for appointments of guardians of the persons and properties of minors by the judge of the probate court. Any such appointment of a temporary guardian shall be made pursuant to the same requirements as are provided for appointments of temporary guardians of the persons and property of minors by the judge of the probate court in Code Section 29_4_4.1."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
