A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Chapter 9 of Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to consent for surgical or medical treatment, so as to prohibit a hospital, after a patient has been admitted to the hospital from that hospital´s emergency room, from transferring such patient to a different hospital without the patient´s consent and the notification of the attending physician; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Chapter 9 of Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to consent for surgical or medical treatment, is amended by adding after Code Section 31-9-7 a new Code section to read as follows:
"31-9-8.
No patient having been admitted to a hospital from such hospital´s emergency room shall be transferred to another hospital without the consent of the patient or a person authorized to consent for the patient and the notification of the patient´s attending physician."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
