A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Chapter 7 of Title 28 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to prohibited lobbying practices, so as to provide that it shall be unlawful for any unit of state government to contract for or use public funds to pay for the services of any person to promote or oppose the passage of any legislation by the General Assembly, or any committee thereof, or the approval or veto of legislation by the Governor; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.
Chapter 7 of Title 28 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to prohibited lobbying practices, is amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:
"28_7_6.
(a) It shall be unlawful for any unit of state government to contract for or use public funds to pay for the services of any person to promote or oppose the passage of any legislation by the General Assembly, or any committee thereof, or the approval or veto of legislation by the Governor.
(b) This Code section shall apply to and cover all departments, agencies, boards, bureaus, commissions, public corporations, authorities, and other entities within all branches of state government of the State of Georgia, as well as all employees, officials, and officers of all of the foregoing."

SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
