A BILL TO BE
ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Code Section 12-5-135 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to the requirement of a bond or letter of credit
from a water well contractor or driller, so as to provide that no such bond or
letter of credit shall be accepted from a person who intends to inject surface
water into an aquifer in certain counties before a certain date; to repeal
conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
Code Section 12-5-135 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to the requirement of a bond or letter of credit from a
water well contractor or driller, is amended by striking in its entirety
subsection (i) and inserting in lieu thereof the
following:
"(i)
No bond or irrevocable letter of credit provided for in this Code section shall
be accepted by the director from any water well contractor or driller who shall
drill any well or borehole for the purpose of injecting any surface water into
the floridan aquifer in any county governed by the Georgia coastal zone
management program provided by Code Section 12-5-327 after July 1, 1999, and
before December 31, 2002
2007."
SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
repealed.
