The House Committee on
Industrial Relations offers the following substitute to HB
13:
A BILL TO BE
ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Code Section 39-2-11, relating to employment
certificates for the employment of minors and requirements for issuance, so as
to require the written permission of a parent or guardian; to repeal conflicting
laws; and for other purposes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
Code Section 39-2-11, relating to employment certificates
for the employment of minors and requirements for issuance, is amended by
striking in its entirety subsection (c) and inserting in lieu thereof a new
subsection (c) to read as
follows:
"(c)
No employment certificate shall be issued to any minor until he or she
shall have submitted to the issuing officer:
(1) A
certified copy of a birth certificate or birth registration card;
and
(2) A statement from the
prospective employer indicating that if he or she were furnished with a
certificate from the school superintendent as required by law, he or she
could employ the minor immediately and describing the type of employment
offered. It shall be understood that the prospective employer, by furnishing
such statement, does not undertake to employ the minor for any specific period
of time; and
(3) The written permission of
the minor´s parent or legal
guardian."
SECTION 2.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
repealed.
