A BILL TO BE
ENTITLED
AN ACT
To amend Code Section 40-6-47 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to one-way roadways and rotary traffic islands, so
as to provide for marking of one-way roadways at certain intersections; to
provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
GEORGIA:
SECTION 1.
Code Section 40-6-47 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to one-way roadways and rotary traffic islands, is amended
by striking subsection (a) and inserting in lieu thereof the
following:
"(a)
The Department of Transportation and local authorities with respect to highways
under their respective jurisdictions may designate any highway, roadway, part of
a roadway, or specific lanes upon which vehicular traffic shall proceed in one
direction at all of such times as shall be indicated by official traffic-control
devices. Any intersection at which traffic on a roadway so designated for
one-way traffic in all lanes is required to stop shall be marked across the
width of the one-way roadway by a yellow line with yellow reflectors facing
traffic traveling on the one-way roadway in the correct direction and by a red
line with red reflectors facing traffic entering the one-way roadway in the
wrong
direction."
SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2002.
SECTION 3.
All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are
repealed.
