A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT

To amend Chapter 12 of Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to control of hazardous conditions, preventable diseases, and metabolic disorders, so as to require the Department of Human Resources to prepare information about bacterial meningitis and to make such information available to all secondary and postsecondary schools in this state; to require all secondary and postsecondary schools to provide information about bacterial meningitis to all enrolled secondary and postsecondary students and their parents or guardians; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.

Chapter 12 of Title 31 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to control of hazardous conditions, preventable diseases, and metabolic disorders, is amended by adding Code Section 31-12-3.2 to read as follows:
"31-12-3.2.
The department shall prepare information about bacterial meningitis which shall include the symptoms of the disease, the risks of contracting the disease, and the availability of a vaccine to prevent the disease. The department shall make such information available to every secondary and postsecondary school which shall be required to provide a written copy of such information to every student and his or her parents or guardians."

SECTION 2.

All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
