Section 5 thereof and inserting in its place the
following:
"SECTION
5.
(a) The coroner shall receive an annual base salary of
$4,500.00 payable in equal monthly installments from the funds of Madison
County.
(b) On and after July 1, 2002, whenever the

as authorized by this subsection shall become effective on the first day of
January following the date that the cost-of-living increases received by state
employees become effective; provided, however, that if the cost-of-living
increases or general performance based increases received by state employees
become effective on January 1, such periodic changes in such amount shall become
effective on the same date that the cost-of-living increases or general
performance based increases received by state employees become
effective."
SECTION 2.
This Act shall become effective on January 1,
2002.
