Commending the McIntosh High School Lady Chiefs and Chiefs soccer teams and inviting the teams and coaches to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the McIntosh High School varsity girls and boys soccer teams excelled in their performance throughout the year 2000 and brought fame and honor to the school, athletic coaches, and the community of Peachtree City and Fayette County; and

WHEREAS, these outstanding young athletes have demonstrated superior talent, motivation, and teamwork and made history for McIntosh High School in the game of soccer; and

WHEREAS, the McIntosh Lady Chiefs are the Region 4_AAAA Champions and the first Fayette County sports team to ever earn a #1 national ranking, and the team has received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America´s Team Academic Award the past four years, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 ; and

WHEREAS, the Lady Chiefs 2000 roster includes: Megan Bernard, Tiffany Suter, Ansley Franke, Katie Murray, Emily Bass, Jessica Dickinson, Jessi Gassman, Elizabeth Gardner, Lauren Kopec, Brittany Jones, Jenny Jackson, Tabitha Lowey, Julie Herdic, Keri Pendergrass, Dana Van Winkle, Melanie Schneider, Britte Hardy, Jessi Prahl, Erin Fisher, Cate Egan, Stacey Quinn, Michelle Witzel, and Jenny Vanairsdale; Head Coach is Stephen Buckner who was named Georgia Coach of the Year for 2000, 1999, and 1998; Drake Dale is assistant coach; and Mark Mayfield is the team trainer; and

WHEREAS, the McIntosh Chiefs were Region 4_AAAA Champions and won the coveted title as state champions with Gardner Dale, Travis Britt, Charlie Gonzales, Dave Hogan, Justin Messer, Matt Clements, Jon Pegues, Nick Brooke, Matt McBride, Paul Kelley, Drew Price, Stephen Wilson, Beau Balesky, Omar Jarun, Rob Nacke, Kyle Gaylor, Greg Young, Nick Corley, Fabian Lamy, Chris Rebok, Joe Sewall, Daniel Berchinski; Bunky Colvin is Head Coach and Mark Mayfield is the team trainer.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend and congratulate the 2000 McIntosh High School Lady Chiefs and Chiefs soccer teams and their coaches and invite them to appear before the House of Representatives at a time to be determined by the Speaker of the House.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the head coaches.
