A RESOLUTION
In memory of Sadie M. Woodruff Woods; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, Sadie M. Woodruff
Woods was born on March 6, 1903, in Prospect, Tennessee, the daughter of John
Wesley Woodruff and Lelar Batts Woodruff;
and
WHEREAS, Ms. Woods passed away on
September 30, 2000, in Columbus, Ohio;
and
WHEREAS, Ms. Woods enjoyed a long and
blessed marriage with her husband, Mr. Clay Woods, Sr., who predeceased her;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Woods were the
proud parents of three sons Ollis, Clay, Jr., and Joe, as well as an only
daughter Henrietta who passed away at an early age;
and
WHEREAS, Ms. Woods was the much beloved
grandmother and great grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren,
and 19 great-great-grandchildren and was also known and loved as "grandma" by
many friends and acquaintances; and
WHEREAS,
she was a valued member and leader in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Kimball,
West Virginia; the Good Samaritan Baptist Church in Columbus; and the Pilgrim
Baptist Church in Columbus where she had her membership for the last 43 years of
her life; and
WHEREAS, this gracious and
distinguished lady will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who were
privileged to know her.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body
hereby pay tribute to the memory of the late Sadie M. Woodruff
Woods.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk
of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Sadie M. Woodruff Woods.
