House Resolution 1279

A RESOLUTION
Commending Stacy Smith; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Stacy Smith is a resident of
Laurens County, Georgia, in the Dublin area and a local business owner who
generously befriended and assisted a stranger in need;
and
WHEREAS, on February 17, 2002, Representative
Mitchell Kaye and his wife, Amy, were traveling west on I-16 to return home from
a tour of south Georgia where he was campaigning for State School
Superintendent; and
WHEREAS, the car in which they
were traveling broke down at the exit ramp for Highway 19 in Dublin and their
anxiety was heightened because it was Sunday and fewer businesses were open to
the public; and
WHEREAS, Stacy Smith of
Stacy´s Automotive passed by, recognized the distress of this couple, and
stopped to offer assistance to them; and his mechanical expertise resolved the
problem and enabled the couple to resume their trip home successfully; and
WHEREAS, the efforts of this citizen to strangers
in need were deeply appreciated and this Good Samaritan deserves appropriate
recognition and high praise.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend
Stacy Smith for his exceptional good will to travelers in distress and express
to him their appreciation for his ability, kindness and good
citizenship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk
of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to Stacy Smith.
