By: Representatives Kaye of the 37th, Porter of the 143rd and Coleman of the 142nd

A RESOLUTION

Commending Stacy Smith; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Stacy Smith is a resident of Laurens County, Georgia, in the Dublin area and a local business owner who generously befriended and assisted a stranger in need; and

WHEREAS, on February 17, 2002, Representative Mitchell Kaye and his wife, Amy, were traveling west on I-16 to return home from a tour of south Georgia where he was campaigning for State School Superintendent; and

WHEREAS, the car in which they were traveling broke down at the exit ramp for Highway 19 in Dublin and their anxiety was heightened because it was Sunday and fewer businesses were open to the public; and

WHEREAS, Stacy Smith of Stacy´s Automotive passed by, recognized the distress of this couple, and stopped to offer assistance to them; and his mechanical expertise resolved the problem and enabled the couple to resume their trip home successfully; and

WHEREAS, the efforts of this citizen to strangers in need were deeply appreciated and this Good Samaritan deserves appropriate recognition and high praise.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Stacy Smith for his exceptional good will to travelers in distress and express to him their appreciation for his ability, kindness and good citizenship.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Stacy Smith.
