House Resolution 1358

A RESOLUTION

Expressing regret at the passing of James Alvin Andrews, Sr.; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, James Alvin Andrews, Sr., was a well known and highly respected leader in Jones County, Georgia, where he was a successful businessman and an influential member of various civic and charitable organizations that improved the quality of life for his fellow citizens and their families; and

WHEREAS, he was born on September 28, 1932, the son of the late Louise Wilkinson and Bernard Robert Andrews, Sr. , graduated from Jones County High School in 1950, and spent a lifetime in the construction industry, founding Andrews Mechanical and Sprinkler in 1968 and building a solid reputation for expertise, integrity, and customer satisfaction; and

WHEREAS, he served on the Jones County Board of Education for 31 years and took a great deal of pleasure in his part of providing the children of Jones County the opportunity to receive a quality public education; and his participation and leadership were valued; and

WHEREAS, he was an active member of Shurlington Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 50 years, leading many committees and serving as a Sunday School teacher; and he was known for his kind, generous, and caring contributions to others and his good will to all; and

WHEREAS, he was the loving husband of Myrtle Peacock for 50 years and they had three sons: James Alvin Andrews, Jr.; Dennis Earl Andrews; and Mark Wayne Andrews and have been blessed with seven fine grandchildren who have been a source of great joy and who have been most fortunate to know and enjoy their very special grandfather.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body express deep regret at the passing of James Alvin Andrews, Sr., and convey their sincerest sympathy to the members of his beloved family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of James Alvin Andrews, Sr.
