Commending the Commerce High School Football Team and inviting the team and coaches to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Commerce High School Football Team brought fame and honor to their school, parents, and community as they won the title 2000 Class A State Champions; and

WHEREAS, the Commerce Tigers have established a proud tradition of excellence in this highly competitive school sport and the 2000 team demonstrated their superb ability throughout the season in their offensive and defensive plays; and

WHEREAS, the superior skill, incredible drive, and remarkable resiliency of these young men was inspiring; and their teamwork reflected their fine training by Head Coach Steve Savage and his assistants, Rex Gregg, David Cash, David Stephenson, Jimbo Stephenson, Greg Jarvis, Michael Brown, Joe Hames, and Terry Camp; and

WHEREAS, the seniors compiled a four-year record of 48-6, losing one home game in four years, and they won three Region Championships and reached the final four twice; and their roster includes Michael Collins, Wes Massey, Monte´ Williams, Charlie Epps, Brandon Maddox, Twion Shealer, Casey Gary, Chris Wilkie, Adam Stephenson, and Lee Sorrow.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Commerce High School Football Team and invite the team and coaches to appear before the House of Representatives at a time to be determined by the Speaker.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Steve Savage.
