Childers of the 13th and Mueller of the 152nd
A RESOLUTION
Commending the Georgia Association of Homes and Services for
Children; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the
Georgia Association of Homes and Services for Children (GAHSC) was founded in
1962 under the name of the Georgia Residential Child Care Association as a
professional organization designed to provide support to the
state´s
children and family service agencies; and
WHEREAS,
from its inception as a five member problem solving group, GAHSC has grown into
a 55 member agency representing over 150 programs and 2,000 child care
professionals, serving children and their families with a full continuum of
services; and
WHEREAS, GAHSC works with such state
departments as the Department of Human Resources, Juvenile Justice, and
Community Health and Education to promote quality care for children;
and
WHEREAS, GAHSC strives to educate the public
and child care professionals on the ever changing climate of child care and the
rights of foster children; and
WHEREAS, GAHSC
provides community awareness through media campaigns, legislative proposals, and
community education projects within individual agencies, and provides
professional training and certification programs for child care professionals;
and
WHEREAS, in 2002 GAHSC will celebrate its 40th
anniversary, and it is only fitting that this state recognize GAHSC and its
members for their dedication and outstanding work with children at risk of abuse
and neglect.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend GAHSC for their
contribution of services to children who are at risk of abuse and neglect and
their families in honor of its 40th Anniversary, and do further applaud the
agencies and state departments which assist GAHSC with the vital services GAHSC
provides toward the well-being of our state.
BE IT
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the board of
directors of the Georgia Association of Homes and Services for Children.
