House Resolution 1429

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Earlene Cameron; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, in recognition of her outstanding service, Earlene Cameron has been named the 2002 Floyd County School System Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, her childhood dream of becoming a teacher was long deferred by circumstances but never forgotten, and Mrs. Cameron's uncommon determination was rewarded when she graduated from college at the age of 46 and finally began the teaching career she had first envisioned as a second grade student; and

WHEREAS, she received a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education from Berry College; and

WHEREAS, a third grade teacher, she was honored in 2001 for her exemplary ability by being recognized as the Alto Park Elementary School Teacher of the Year and the Floyd County School System Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, her dedication to her profession and her commitment to the highest quality education have earned her the love and respect of her students, their parents, and all the teachers, administrators, and staff who have an opportunity to work with her; and

WHEREAS, she has been married for 33 years to her husband, Bill, and they have two daughters, Kristen and Karen, and one grandson, William.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Earlene Cameron upon her selection as the 2002 Floyd County School System Teacher of the Year and express their gratitude for her exemplary service to the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Earlene Cameron.
