A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Shelby Sims; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, Shelby Sims has an
admirable and dynamic record of service and commitment to his community;
and
WHEREAS, he served on the Floyd County
Board of Education for 16 years; and
WHEREAS, he served as Director of the
Georgia Junior Quarter Horse Association; and
WHEREAS, he served as a fund raiser for the
Pepperell Youth Baseball League;
and
WHEREAS, he served on the executive
committee of the Boy Scouts of America for two years;
and
WHEREAS, he served on the Rome
Recreation Authority and served as Chairperson of Facilities;
and
WHEREAS, he served as chairperson for
Ducks Unlimited for four years and a member for 18 years and was Ducks Unlimited
Man of the Year for 1998; and
WHEREAS, he
served as president of BEAA Country Club from 1993 to 1998;
and
WHEREAS, he served on the Rome Licensing
Board in 1980; and
WHEREAS, he is married to
Imogene Keith Sims and has four children: Sherry Akins, Rhonda Padgett, Terri
Brown, and Holly Kelly, and three grandchildren, Jack Kelly, Kaity Brown, and
Dylan Akins.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY
THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that Shelby Sims is recognized and
congratulated for his record of commendable and outstanding service to his
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to Shelby
Sims.
