A RESOLUTION

Expressing condolences upon the passing of Gary Che´ Parker; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Gary Che´ Parker was born on August 27, 1983, the beloved second child of Gary and Tina Parker; and

WHEREAS, he spent his early childhood in Columbus, Georgia, where he attended Rigdon Road Elementary and Arnold Middle School; and

WHEREAS, in 1990, his family moved to DeKalb County where Gary attended Stephenson High School and Shiloh High School; and

WHEREAS, determined to accept only success, he distinguished himself academically at every school which he attended; and

WHEREAS, characterized by his teachers and counselors as an outstanding student and a unique individual, Gary maintained an impressive 3.8 GPA in a very challenging academic curriculum, including advanced placement and gifted classes; and

WHEREAS, a natural leader, he was a member of the Beta Club, Junior National Honor Society, Academic Letter Club, Who´s Who Among American High School Students, Presidential Scholar, National Ventures Scholar, and DeKalb Board Elementary Scholar; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his achievements and outstanding potential, Gary had received acceptance letters with scholarship offers to Georgia Tech, the University of Georgia, and Morehouse College; and

WHEREAS, he was a faithful member of the New Bethel A.M.E. Church, where he served as a Junior Steward, a member of the Tight With Christ Youth Choir, and the Young Peoples Division; and

WHEREAS, Gary was a loving son, a cherished brother, and a devoted friend whose brief life shone brilliantly with promise.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor the life of Gary Che´ Parker and express their deepest condolences to his parents, Gary and Tina Parker, and sister, Tinisha.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Gary and Tina Parker.
