A RESOLUTION
Expressing regret at the passing of Dr. Robert Grady Cash;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, on March 27, 2002,
the State of Georgia lost one of its finest and most distinguished citizens with
the untimely passing of Dr. Robert Grady Cash;
and
WHEREAS, he was born in Valdese, North
Carolina, but had lived in Savannah since 1979; practiced dentistry and
orthodontics in Savannah, Wilmington Island, and Rincon, Georgia; was affiliated
with Candler Hospital and memorial Health University Medical Center; and
published many dental and orthodontic articles in a number of professional
journals; and
WHEREAS, in 1974, he received his
doctor of dentistry from Emory University; in 1988, he was ranked number one at
the Emory University Department of Orthodontics; and in 1999, he was appointed a
Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics;
and
WHEREAS, he was a member of the Georgia Dental
Association, the American Dental Association, the Emory University Alumni Board,
and had served on the advisory board of Armstrong University School of Dental
Hygiene; and
WHEREAS, he had served as president of
the Savannah Dental Society in 1990, as president of the Southeastern District
Dental Society from 1993 to 1994, and as president of the Georgia Association of
Orthodontists from 1994 to 1995; and
WHEREAS, he
was an Eagle Scout, had received the God and Country Award, and served on the
Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America;
and
WHEREAS, he was the recipient of many awards
including the Special Award of Appreciation from the Savannah Dental Society,
the Georgia Dental Association Honorable Fellow Award, and the Pierre Fuchard
Academy Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, he was a member
of the Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Deacons,
a member of the Civitan Club of Savannah, the United Way Beacon Club, the
Savannah Quarterback Club, the Marsh Hunting preserve, the Millhaven Plantation
Dove Club, the Savannah Yacht Club, and the Wilmington Island Club;
and
WHEREAS, he consistently demonstrated a solid
commitment to his profession and to his community and his untimely passing
leaves a void in the hearts and lives of his wife, Sheila, his sister Laura, and
the many colleagues and friends who knew him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body express their deepest and most sincere regret at the passing of Dr.
Robert Grady Cash and extend to his family their utmost appreciation for his
dedicated service to the citizens of Georgia.
BE IT
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Dr. Robert Grady Cash.
