House Resolution 1659

Walker of the 141st and Reece of the 11th
A RESOLUTION
Commending Col. George Ellis of the Georgia State Patrol;
and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the bodies of
hundreds of persons thought previously to have been properly cremated in
accordance with the wishes of their families were recently discovered in Walker
County, Georgia, in deplorable and shocking conditions;
and
WHEREAS, these discoveries have brought
immeasurable heartache to family members in Walker County and surrounding areas
in Georgia and Tennessee, and have led to the filing of criminal charges against
certain persons; and
WHEREAS, Col. George Ellis and
others are making great effort to accurately identify those bodies as rapidly
as possible and to bring aid and comfort to the families who have been hurt by
these events.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Col. George Ellis
for responding promptly to these disturbing events and continuing in his
diligent efforts to alleviate suffering and bring the responsible parties to
justice.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of
the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to Col. George Ellis.
