House Resolution

A RESOLUTION
Commending the Irwin County High School Girls Softball
Team and inviting the team and the coaches to appear before the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Irwin County High School Girls Softball Team has established a proud
tradition of excellence in girls softball and demonstrated their superb ability
by winning the title as the 2000 Class AA State Champions;
and
WHEREAS, this outstanding team completed an
extremely successful season of softball as reflected in their record of 25 wins
to 6 losses and the Lady Indians capped off their season with the coveted state
crown; and
WHEREAS, the superb athletic ability,
individual motivation, drive, and remarkable resiliency of these young women
have brought honor and recognition to their school;
and
WHEREAS, the team roster includes the following
players: Kayla Carver, Kayla Harper, Kia Lewis, Heather Bayard, Morgan Cook,
Keri Gibbs, Jessica Hickey, Latoya White, Candice Hulsey, Heather Busbin, Dawn
Morgan, Brittany Hall, Leslie Davis, Shayla Fields, Sheena Griffin, Kayla
Hudson, Lauren Hudson, Latoya Moffett, Deidre Gamble, and Jessica Bess;
and
WHEREAS, the achievements of this team reflect
the expert training they received from Head Coach Leigh Chestnutt and Assistant
Coaches Ivey Vickers and Morgan Shealey.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body
commends the Irwin County High School Girls Softball Team and invites the team
and its coaches to appear before this body at a time to be determined by the
Speaker.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of
the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Leigh Chestnutt.
