Commending Sabrina D. Stefan, the winner of the 2000 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership and inviting her to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership Program (GOAL), the first program of its type in the nation to honor outstanding students in postsecondary technical colleges, spotlights the importance of technical training and emphasizes the dignity of work; and

WHEREAS, for 29 years, the GOAL Program has served Georgia as an excellent example of a true partnership among business, industry, and education; and

WHEREAS, the state GOAL winner is chosen from among 34 technical college award winners from throughout the state to represent the thousands of Georgians benefiting from technical training; and

WHEREAS, Sabrina D. Stefan is the state´s recipient of the 2000 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership representing more than 30,000 students benefiting from technical training programs throughout the state; and

WHEREAS, Sabrina D. Stefan, a student in the Radiologic Technology Program at Middle Georgia Technical College, enrolled to receive "hands_on" training necessary to acquire the knowledge and skills to become an entrepreneur in her chosen profession; and

WHEREAS, in pursuing her education she brought honor to herself, family, college, and the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education which she represents as Georgia´s outstanding postsecondary technical student for 2000; and

WHEREAS, as the GOAL winner, she is a spokesperson for technical education and makes public appearances to promote the Georgia system of postsecondary technical education.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Sabrina D. Stefan for her outstanding achievements and convey to her their sincere best wishes for success in her future endeavors and invite her to appear before this body on a date and time designated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Sabrina D. Stefan.
