Commending Ms. Maria Vidal; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Maria Vidal is one of 11 Georgia Department of Agriculture employees to be nominated for the Georgia Public Employee Recognition Award; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Vidal, an employee with chemical laboratories, was nominated for her part in the eight-member Food Safety Team; and

WHEREAS, in 2001, the team´s efforts resulted in more than 54 food recalls, saving many of the state´s citizens from illness or death; and

WHEREAS, the team´s job is to collect and analyze food samples and to track food borne pathogens and to remove contaminated food from the market.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ms. Maria Vidal for her service to the state and for being nominated to receive the Georgia Public Employee Recognition Award.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Maria Vidal.
