A RESOLUTION

Commending Lt. Bill L. Mull as the Peace Officer of the Year for Meritorious Service and inviting him to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Lt. Bill L. Mull of the Cobb County Police Department was selected by the Peace Officers´ Association of Georgia to receive the Arthur Hutchins Award for Meritorious Service; and

WHEREAS, he has a long and distinguished record of service with the Cobb County Police Department, having begun his career on April 15, 1966; and

WHEREAS, he has served with dedication and ability as a member of the Uniform Patrol Bureau, the Metropolitan Atlanta Narcotics Squad, the Property Crimes Division, and the Property and Supply Unit; was commander of the D.U.I. Task Force; was commander of the Cobb County Bomb Squad; and served on the Metropolitan Atlanta Bomb Task Force during the 1996 Olympics; and

WHEREAS, he has served as adjutant to the Deputy Chief of Police of the Uniform Patrol Bureau, commander of the police rangers, and commander of the Cobb County Police Department Honor Guard; and

WHEREAS, he has been instrumental in the opening of a new recreation facility for underprivileged children and created the first "Shop With a Cop" program in the state to give something back to the underprivileged children of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, his determination and character have been reflected in his professional performance throughout his career with the Cobb County Police Department, and his high standards of conduct have served as a model for subordinates and peers who share deep admiration for this fine officer; and

WHEREAS, the extraordinary commitment of Lt. Mull to manage his responsibilities completely and with exemplary demeanor has inspired others to follow his outstanding example of courage in all facets of life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Lt. Bill L. Mull as the recipient of the Peace Officers´ Association of Georgia 2000 Peace Officer of the Year Award for Meritorious Service and invite him to appear before the House at a time to be determined by the Speaker.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Lt. Bill L. Mull.
