Commending the Harris County High School Varsity Ladies Fast Pitch Softball Team and inviting the team and the coach to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Harris County High School Varsity Ladies Fast Pitch Softball Team brought fame and honor to the school, their parents, and the community as the 2000 Class AAA State Champions in this highly competitive interscholastic sport; and

WHEREAS, this terrific team of females is the first athletic team from Harris County High School to ever achieve the distinction of state champion in the history of the school; and

WHEREAS, these fine athletes compiled a record of 26 wins and 8 losses during the season, and the team was undefeated in both the region and sectional tournaments; and

WHEREAS, throughout the rigorous season, these tremendous players demonstrated true talent, drive, motivation, and teamwork and their excellent performance reflected the fine training and experience of their dedicated coach Ed Oliver; and

WHEREAS, the brilliant performance of the Harris County High School Varsity Ladies Fast Pitch Softball Team made them an especially spectacular team to support and created special memories for the students, parents, and players who will cherish their experiences forever.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body commends the Harris County High School Varsity Ladies Fast Pitch Softball Team and invites the team and the coach to appear before this body at a time to be determined by the Speaker.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Coach Ed Oliver.
