Birdsong of the 123rd and West of the 101st
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the sesquicentennial celebration
of the Lawrenceville, Georgia, Masonic Lodge No. 131 and the Loganville,
Georgia, Fergus Lodge No. 135; inviting members of the Lodges to appear before
the House of Representatives; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, the Lawrenceville, Georgia,
Masonic Lodge No. 131 and the Loganville, Georgia, Fergus Lodge No. 135 were
constituted on October 30, 1850, and have operated continuously for over
150 years; and
WHEREAS, the membership of both
Lodges were among the founding leaders of their respective communities and
continue their service to their communities through active service and
leadership and strive to be role models in their communities for others to
follow and emulate; and
WHEREAS, both Lodges have
written histories of local interest to state historians documenting every facet
of their
communities´
existence; and
WHEREAS, the Lodge members over the
many years have practiced the tenets of Free Masonry and have made outstanding
community contributions in both Walton and Gwinnett counties and the State of
Georgia; and
WHEREAS, Free Masonry is the oldest
fraternal organization in the world known to man;
and
WHEREAS, a joint Sesquicentennial Celebration
was held on November 4, 2000, in the Gwinnett County Justice and
Administration Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia, to commemorate these Lodges for
their 150 years of existence and service.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize and commend the Lawrenceville, Georgia, Masonic Lodge No.
131 and the Loganville, Georgia, Fergus Lodge No. 135 on their Sesquicentennial
Celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
members of the Lawrenceville, Georgia, Masonic Lodge No. 131 and the Loganville,
Georgia, Fergus Lodge No. 135 are invited to appear before the House of
Representatives at a time to be determined by the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit
appropriate copies of this resolution to the Lawrenceville, Georgia, Masonic
Lodge No. 131 and the Loganville, Georgia, Fergus Lodge No. 135.
