A RESOLUTION
Commending Angelo Taylor and inviting him to appear before
the House of Representatives; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Angelo Taylor is a dynamic and
multitalented athlete who was a member of the 2000 United States Olympic Team;
and
WHEREAS, this peerless performer has received
numerous awards and recognitions for his unparalleled prowess, including winning
the Olympic gold medal in the 400 meter hurdles in the 2000 Olympic Games in
Sydney, Australia; winning a second gold medal in the same Olympic Games as a
part of the United States 4x400 relay team; and being named the USA Track and
Field´s 2000 Jesse Owens Award, emblematic of being the year´s
outstanding male performer of United States track and field athletes;
and
WHEREAS, he is a native of Decatur, Georgia,
and attended Southwest DeKalb High School and the Georgia Institute of
Technology; and
WHEREAS, this stellar athlete
epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and character necessary to
attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance and to achieve success as
an individual and citizen; and
WHEREAS, it is
abundantly fitting and proper that the superlative skills and outstanding deeds
of this accomplished athlete be appropriately
recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Angelo Taylor for
his unprecedented athletic performance and extend to him their sincerest best
wishes for success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED that Angelo Taylor is invited to appear before the House of
Representatives at a time to be determined by the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk
of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to Angelo Taylor.
