A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Dr. Otis J. Williams,
Jr.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Otis J. Williams, Jr., of Eastman, Georgia, is well known throughout Dodge
County where he has practiced medicine for the past 18 years and been an active
member of the community; and
WHEREAS, he was
born in Scanlon, Florida, and spent his youth in Darien, on
Georgia´s
coast, and he earned a B.S. degree in pharmacy from Florida A&M University
and received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College;
and
WHEREAS, Dr. Williams was formerly chief
of staff at Dodge County Hospital and is a member of the Georgia State Society
of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Ocmulgee Medical Society, Georgia State
Medical Association, the National Medical Association, and a Junior Fellow of
the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists;
and
WHEREAS, he was appointed by the
Governor to serve on the Maternal and Infant Care Council and is presently
serving on the State Medical Education Board as well as the
Governor´s
Board at Mercer University School of Medicine;
and
WHEREAS, the dedication, leadership, and
public service of this distinguished doctor have improved and strengthened the
quality of life for many Georgians.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members
of this body recognize and commend Dr. Otis J. Williams, Jr., for his very
generous contributions to his community and state and convey to him their
appreciation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that
the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit
an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Otis J. Williams,
Jr.
