A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Courtney Thornton; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the National 4-H Conference is designated as the premier assembly of 4-H members from throughout the nation to assist Cooperative Extension Service staff in program planning; and

WHEREAS, 4-H members serving as delegates provide specific recommendations for 4-H and Cooperative Extension Service programs at the county, state, and national levels; and

WHEREAS, delegates make a valuable contribution to the development of programs which redirect the path of 4-H to meet the needs of youth and our society; and

WHEREAS, the National 4-H Conference is conducted by the 4-H Youth Development Program of the Extension Service of the United States Department of Agriculture, the National 4-H Council, and the Extension Services of the land grant universities; and

WHEREAS, Courtney Thornton of Charlton County served with distinction, dedication, and ability as a delegate to the 2000 National 4-H Conference and is an outstanding representative of the 4-H members of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Courtney Thornton for the outstanding manner in which this 4-H member represented the State of Georgia as a delegate to the 2000 National 4-H Conference.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Courtney Thornton.
