Commending and inviting to appear before the House of Representatives the Statesboro High School football team; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Statesboro High School Blue Devils crowned a spectacular 2001 season by capturing the coveted Class AAAA state football title for the first time in the school´s history and brought fame and honor to the school, the team, and the community; and

WHEREAS, this terrific team demonstrated its talent by compiling a perfect record for the season and scored an impressive total of 607 points with an average of 40.5 per game; and

WHEREAS, throughout the season these outstanding young athletes exhibited superb skill, motivation, focus, and teamwork, and the team´s achievements reflect the excellent training, direction, and experience of Head Coach Buzz Busby and his able coaching staff; and

WHEREAS, every member of the team and staff deserve credit and commendation for a thrilling and successful season, and for demonstrating the determination and character that will serve them well in their future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the players and coaches of the Statesboro High School football team on their first Class AAAA championship season and invite the team to appear before this body at a time to be determined by the Speaker of the House.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach Buzz Busby.
