House Resolution 857

A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life of Judge Nick George Lambros and
expressing regret at his passing; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Judge Nick G. Lambros, was a
distinguished Georgian who was highly respected for his many contributions to
his family and friends, his church, his fellow citizens, his state, and the
local community of Roswell, Georgia, who treasured this gentleman;
and
WHEREAS, an Ohio native, he grew up in Atlanta
working in his father's restaurant and later graduating from Georgia State
College and Emory University School of Law; and
WHEREAS, he maintained his strong ties to his
Greek heritage and community as a devoted member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral
of Annuciation where he was instrumental in the planning and building of the
Annuciation Cathedral; and
WHEREAS, in recognition
of his enduring faith and commitment, he was bestowed with the highest honor of
a layman in the Greek Orthodox faith, the Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate;
and
WHEREAS, he was an attorney for over fifty
years and served as a State Court Judge in Fulton County where he worked
tirelessly and with unselfish devotion for fifteen years;
and
WHEREAS, he was an exemplary public servant
serving as a Representative in the Georgia House of Representatives, as an
Alderman on the Atlanta City Council, and as a State Court Judge in Fulton
County; and
WHEREAS, even in the face of adversity,
he prevailed over a debilitating stroke to endure and continue with
determination and a jovial attitude which exemplified his life and demeanor;
and
WHEREAS, his extensive career as a lawyer,
statesman, and jurist evidence the extraordinary leadership, character, and
faith of this exceptional man.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor
the life of Judge Nick G. Lambros, express their gratitude for his excellent
service to the State of Georgia, and extend their sincere condolences to his
beloved family.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Anna V. Lambros.
