House Resolution 869

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Dusty Bonner; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Dusty Bonner is the exceptional
young quarterback at Valdosta State University who is a native son of Valdosta,
Georgia, where he earned numerous distinctions as an athlete and scholar at
Valdosta High School; and
WHEREAS, he began his
collegiate career at Kentucky where he served as a backup quarterback during his
freshman year; was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll his sophomore year; and
started all 12 games in 1999 and led the Southeastern Conference in pass
efficiency, total offense, and passing yards per game;
and
WHEREAS, upon his return to Georgia, he led
Valdosta State University to the Gulf South Conference championship and the
Division II national playoffs in both the 2000 and 2001 seasons and set
conference and national records for touchdown passes and completions;
and
WHEREAS, this outstanding athlete was Division
II player of the year for the past two years and the winner of the prestigious
Harlon Hill Trophy for both years as well, and his superb record and constant
success make him a wonderful model for all young Georgia
athletes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend
Dusty Bonner for his outstanding accomplishments at Valdosta State University
and express congratulations and best wishes.
BE IT
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dusty Bonner.
