A RESOLUTION
Commending Guy W. Sims; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Guy W. Sims has served with the
utmost ability and dedication as the Superintendent of the Muscogee County
School District in Columbus, Georgia, and has influenced the lives of countless
students, parents, administrators, and teachers;
and
WHEREAS, he is a distinguished educator who has
demonstrated extraordinary devotion to public education and has been a valuable
member of the Muscogee County school system for the past 30 years; and he holds
a masters degree in elementary education and an EDS degree in supervision and
administration from the University of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS, during his career he has been a
dynamic classroom teacher at Wood Elementary School; Principal of Rose Hill
Elementary School, Fox Elementary School, and Carver Elementary School; Special
Assistant to the Acting Superintendent; Director of Elementary and Middle School
Education; and Assistant Superintendent for Instruction;
and
WHEREAS, he has been a leader in professional
associations, serving as the president and executive committee member of the
Muscogee Elementary School Principals Association; president and member of the
board of directors of the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals;
board member of the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders; and board
director for Zone IV of the National Association of Elementary School
Principals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend
Superintendent Guy W. Sims on his outstanding career as a teacher and
administrator and express to him their congratulations and best wishes on his
retirement.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk
of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an
appropriate copy of this resolution to Guy W. Sims.
