A RESOLUTION
Commending the Harrison High School Girls Cross
Country Team and inviting the team and its coach to appear before the House of
Representatives; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, the Harrison High School
Girls Cross Country Team brought fame and honor to their school, parents, and
community as the 2000 Class 5A State Champions;
and
WHEREAS, these young women demonstrated
their superior talent, drive, motivation, and speed throughout the season and
reflected the fine training and experience of their coach Bob DeMenna, who was
picked by the Marietta Daily Journal as Cross Country Coach of the Year
and named Cobb County Cross Country Coach of the Year by The Atlanta
Journal; and
WHEREAS, interscholastic
sports offers young people a valuable opportunity to master core principles and
relationships that are elementary to adult living in a civil society;
and
WHEREAS, this terrific team has added a
state title to their school's proud athletic record and created special memories
that will be long remembered by the schoolmates and families of these athletes
who will cherish their memories forever.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members
of this body commend the Harrison High School Girls Cross Country Team on
winning the 2000 Class 5A state title and invite the team members and their
coach to appear before the House of Representatives at a time to be determined
by the Speaker.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that
the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit
an appropriate copy of this resolution to Coach Bob
DeMenna.
