Recognizing and commending Oak Grove Elementary School as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Oak Grove Elementary School in DeKalb County was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the US Department of Education, a distinction that reflects tremendous credit and honor on the teachers, students, parents, and administrators; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious education award recognizes the high quality of instruction and professionalism of this school's dedicated classroom teachers and the ability, motivation, and deep commitment of its students to become lifelong learners and community leaders; and

WHEREAS, Oak Grove Elementary School is in the 4th congressional district of Georgia and the student achievement test scores are consistently among the highest in DeKalb; and

WHEREAS, Principal John U. Tippins III has been recognized as National Distinguished Principal for his leadership encouraging students and supporting innovative teachers; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the students, teachers, and administrators of this outstanding elementary school merit special recognition and praise.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Oak Grove Elementary School on being named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and convey hearty congratulations on this prestigious award and best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Principal Tippins.
