A RESOLUTION
Commending and inviting the Tattnall Square Academy boys
football team and its coaches to appear before the House of Representatives; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Tattnall Square
Academy in Macon, Georgia, has a proud tradition of excellence in education and
a rich history of success in interscholastic football; and
WHEREAS, the Tattnall Trojans won the title 2AAA
State Champions on November 30, 2001, with a fabulous 12-7 final score against
First Presbyterian; and
WHEREAS, this terrific team
finished its season with 13 straight wins and the Trojans earned their 13th
appearance out of the last 14 years in the state championship game;
and
WHEREAS, six of the Trojans were named
All-State Players: Durant Brooks, John Johnson, Justin Massey, Jason Prestridge,
Eric Renfroe, and Mitchell Turner; and
WHEREAS, the
outstanding performance of the 2001 Trojans reflect their superb ability and
determination as athletes and the marvelous training and experience of their
dedicated coaches: Barney Hester, Head Coach, and Rennie Atkinson, Jeff Ratliff,
Dwight Danuser, Paul Brooks, Jarrett Moore, John Hankinson, Rhett Farmer, and
Joey Hiller as assistants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend
the Tattnall Square Academy Trojans on becoming the GISA 2AAA State Campions for
2001 and invite the team and its coaches to appear before this body at a time to
be determined by the Speaker of the House.
BE IT
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach
Barney Hester.
