Senate Resolution
11
By: Senators Beatty of the 47th, Perdue
of the 18th, Cagle of the 49th, Mullis of the
53rd, Williams of the 6th and others
A RESOLUTION
Urging Congress to repeal all federal estate taxes; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, there are numerous
provisions of the Internal Revenue Code which impose federal taxes on the
estates of decedents who are citizens or residents of the United States;
and
WHEREAS, it is manifestly unfair that Americans
who have labored throughout their lifetimes are unable in many instances to pass
the entirety of the fruits of their labors to their families without suffering
undue diminution of their estates due to the burden of federal estate taxes;
and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper
that the levy and imposition of all federal estate taxes
cease.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE
that the members of this body urge Congress to take all necessary steps to
ensure the immediate repeal of all federal estate taxes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is
authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to
the Georgia congressional delegation.
