Commending Mr. Andy Bell upon his being named Ag Man of the Year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Andy Bell, a fourth generation Decatur County farmer, has been named Ag Man of the Year 2000; and

WHEREAS, the Decatur County Farm Bureau nominated Mr. Bell for the honor because he has contributed unselfishly to agriculture in Decatur County in numerous ways over the years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bell is currently serving as director after his third term as president of the Decatur County Farm Bureau; is director of the Georgia Peanut Producers Association; is a member of the Agribusiness Council; is a member of the Georgia and Decatur County Cattlemen´s Associations, the Decatur County Extension Advisory Committee, and the Decatur County Pest Management Board; and has served as vice chairman of the Decatur County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service Committee and as state director for the Georgia Pork Producers; and

WHEREAS, he and his brother, Buster Bell, own and operate Bell Farms, a diversified business having acreage planted in corn, hay, small grains, pecan trees, timber, peanuts, and cotton, and he always finds time to boost agriculture and assist local farmers in any way he can, and his commitment to the agriculture of his region and the state warrant his being recognized as an outstanding leader in farming and agribusiness.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Mr. Andy Bell upon his being named Ag Man of the Year 2000 and wish him many more productive years in his chosen profession.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Andy Bell.
