Senate Resolution

Hecht of the 34th
A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Turner Middle School; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS, Turner Middle School has
been selected as a 2001 Georgia School of Excellence by the Department of
Education; and
WHEREAS, this Douglas County school
stands as one of only 20 schools in the state to receive this prestigious honor;
and
WHEREAS, selections were based on each
school´s administrative leadership, teacher effectiveness, academic goals
and achievements, school curriculum, discipline, and community involvement and
support; and
WHEREAS, this outstanding academic
institution is renowned throughout the state for its innovative programs, such
as its math program, its gifted program, and its after-school program, and for
the high level of community support which it receives;
and
WHEREAS, this superlative Douglas County school
has maintained a proud tradition of excellence in education and, through a
dedicated, capable, and hard-working faculty and staff, the school offers
outstanding educational opportunities for its students and prepares its students
to be lifelong learners and contributing forces in the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that the members of this body recognize Turner Middle School on its
selection as a 2001 Georgia School of Excellence and commend its outstanding
dedication and commitment to excellence in
education.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate
copy of this resolution to Turner Middle School.
