Senate Resolution 21

A RESOLUTION

Commending Mr. Jim Brim; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Jim Brim of Pelham, Georgia, was presented with the Lifetime Community Service Award by Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Benham at the annual meeting of the Georgia Bar Association in Savannah; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Brim lives in Pelham and has a law office in Camilla where he has been practicing law since 1964; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia Bar Association recognized him as an outstanding example of a lawyer who has worked as hard for the betterment of his community as he has for his law practice; and

WHEREAS, as president of the Pelham Development Corporation, he was instrumental in making Pelham a more visible place by obtaining welcome signs and street lights for the city; and

WHEREAS, for 36 years he has been a member of the Pelham Rotary Club where he logged 35 years of perfect attendance and served as the vice chairman of the Georgia Rotary Student Program which resulted in Rotary International awarding him its highest honors; and

WHEREAS, he has served as a trustee at Andrew College and through his legal work the college has received an $8 million bequest; and

WHEREAS, for many years he has served as chairman of the Finance Committee of the Hand Memorial United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, although he has experienced serious health problems he has continued to work for the betterment of his community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brim has done much to improve the quality of life for many in his community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Mr. Jim Brim on his Lifetime Community Service Award and especially for his many years of community service.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Jim Brim.
