Senate Resolution
22

A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Westwood School football
team; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the Westwood
School football team brought fame and honor to their school and the community of
Camilla, Georgia, as the Wildcats won the Georgia Independent Schools
Association Class AA state championship on December 1, 2000;
and
WHEREAS, this extraordinary team compiled a
perfect 13-0 record during the season, and the defensive squad balanced the
aggressive offense to capture a 14-6 victory, the first state championship since
1984, and an undefeated season for the second time only in the school's history;
and
WHEREAS, these outstanding young athletes broke
several of the school records that dated back to the 1970's and excelled
individually and collectively during each game;
and
WHEREAS, the talent, motivation, drive, and
resilience demonstrated by these players reflected the excellent training
provided by Head Coach Charlie Greene and his staff;
and
WHEREAS, the terrific accomplishments of this
great team will long be remembered by fellow students, parents, and coaches,
and the players will cherish these memories
forever.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the Westwood School
on winning the Georgia Independent Schools Association Class AA championship and
convey their heartiest congratulations to the team and their
coaches.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary
of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this
resolution to Head Coach Charlie Greene.
