A RESOLUTION
Commending Abused Women and Children, Inc.; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS, Abused Women and Children, Inc.
was founded in 1995 as a not for profit organization dedicated to providing
human, material, and financial resources to support shelters for abused women
and children in the greater Atlanta area and providing shelter for occupants
with opportunities to enrich their lives through participation in cultural,
recreational, and arts programs and experiences;
and
WHEREAS, Abused Women and Children, Inc. has
performed in an exemplary manner to assure that all organizational resources are
channeled directly into meeting the needs of the individuals and shelters it
serves; and
WHEREAS, Abused Women and Children,
Inc. has enriched the lives of hundreds of women and children in the
metropolitan Atlanta area by exposing at-risk individuals, particularly
children, to the arts, including dance, theater, music, and visual arts, as an
aid to healing and broadening horizons;
and
WHEREAS, the work of Abused Women and Children,
Inc. was recently recognized with an Outstanding Community Service Award by the
DeKalb County Community Service organization;
and
WHEREAS, the volunteers who implement the
mission for Abused Women and Children, Inc., selflessly devote their time and
energy and resources to improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable
among us–abused women and children.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body laud and
commend Abused Women and Children, Inc. and the volunteers who make its work
possible.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary
of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this
resolution to Abused Women and Children, Inc.
